George LLP attorneys Eric George, Chris Berg, and Jared Forbus recently obtained a preliminary injunction in favor of their client Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic (“KJOC”), in a legal malpractice suit against KJOC’s former attorneys at the law firm, Hooper Lundy & Bookman, P.C. The suit alleges that Hooper Lundy failed to disclose a conflict of interest arising from its concurrent representation of Cedars-Sinai while also representing KJOC in related negotiations.
KJOC, a leading sports medicine clinic, filed the lawsuit citing malpractice and conflict of interest. The court’s preliminary injunction orders Hooper Lundy to produce KJOC’s client files, these documents are necessary for KJOC to evaluate potential malpractice claims before the statue of limitations expires.
George LLP attorney Chris Berg, who argued the motion for the injunction, was quoted in a Daily Journal article covering the court order: “Our view here is that there has been conduct by the law firm that was averse to our client’s interests. We think the client file is going to show that.”
